On 17 January 2020, an agreement in principle was reached with all parties to the trade union negotiations. In the coming weeks, a copy of the proposed final agreement will be released and/or published on ForGov`s website. On that date, additional information on the terms of the agreement, the electoral process and the timetable will also be provided. A vote is scheduled for the end of March, early April. Of those eligible to vote, 94.7% of diocesan school staff and 93.2% of staff in schools of the Religious Institute/Public Jurists voted in favour of these agreements. The government will continue to approve the agreement in principle in accordance with standard procedures. Once this approval is confirmed, the single payment will be processed and further communications regarding the date of payment will be made. On December 20, 2019, the government and Queensland resolved the dispute resolution in arbitration. This means that the hearing scheduled for February 2020 must no longer be continued, since an agreement can be reached.
The government and all parties will now work on a replacement agreement. Once this process is complete, more information on the proposed agreement will be made public and all staff covered by the agreement will be put to a vote. This agreement applies to workers employed in schools who are part of: the replacement agreement will cover the same key issues that will be addressed in the current agreement, including rates of pay; Classification structures Hours of work Holidays Worker orientation provisions; and many other things. Negotiations for a replacement contract for the 2015 agreement reviewed by the state (basic agreement) will continue between your agency`s representatives and your union. The Labour Relations Board will now meet with union negotiators to complete the development of the proposed replacement agreement. Certified agreements provide for negotiated terms of employment between an employer and the public sector unions concerned on behalf of workers. The conference approves an agreement in principle with the Ministry of Education on the basis of the ministry`s offer of 28 June 2019. The government has just approved the agreement in principle for the basic agreement.
From 9 March 2020, the proposed agreement and the corresponding explanation of the agreement will be available on www.forgov.qld.gov.au/state-government-entities-certified-agreement-2019. The State Government`s 2015 Certified Agreement (Basic Agreement) expires this year. This agreement includes terms and conditions of employment for you and other staff of your agency. The Palaszczuk government is currently negotiating a series of new collective agreements for the public sector with public sector unions.
